Community Boost through library upgrade in rural South Africa (January, 2019)

Project Info

Project Description

In close cooperation with municipal social workers and under supervision of Joseph Johnston, the existing, dilapidated library of Buisplaas, a small hamlet of 40 households, has been fundamentally renovated in order to house and urgently needed computer hub for local boarding students and to become a modernized meeting place for the whole community. One of many so called poverty pockets, Buisplaas is located 50 km from Mossel bay and close to the famous South African Garden Route.

Providing supervised access to much needed internet for young and old, the library also features a communal garden and a safe recreation area for local pre school children. The place was officially inaugurated in January 2019 with a joyfull gathering.
